Information Session: New Frontiers in Research Fund (NFRF)

The Tri-agency Institutional Programs Secretariat (TIPS) is expected to launch the first call for proposals for the Transformation and International streams of the New Frontiers in Research Fund (NFRF) sometime this Fall. The inaugural Transformation stream provides large-scale support for Canada to build strength and leadership in interdisciplinary and transformative research, while the International stream enhances opportunities for Canadian researchers to participate in research with international partners.
The fund will invest $275 million over the next five years, and $65 million ongoing, to fund international, interdisciplinary, fast-breaking and high-risk research. Transformation grants are valued at between $2,000,000 and $4,000,000 per year (including indirect costs) for up to six years.
In anticipation of this call, Institutional Strategic Awards (ISA) will be hosting an information session to share the latest draft of the Transformation stream framework and provide information on SFU’s internal support processes. The goals of the session are to inform potential applicants of the opportunity and stimulate discussion about the program.
