Canadian Glycomics Network - Call for Proposals
Canadian Glycomics Network launches Call for Proposals for glycomics projects to address fundamental health challenges in
Canada.
The Network will commit $1.8 million in glycomics to support made-in-Canada health innovations and build a sustainable national bioeconomy.
GlycoNet announced the launch of its 2021-22 Call for Proposals competition for glycomics-based projects that address national health and medical needs in infectious diseases, chronic illnesses, cancer, and neurodegenerative disorders. Researchers across Canada will be able to apply for funding that leverages glycomics—the study of sugars in the biological systems—to tackle health challenges in current society.
“We are investing in projects across the country to help build a healthier Canada, especially in health areas that experience negative impacts as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic,” says Dr. Elizabeth Nanak, CEO, GlycoNet. “We strongly believe that our approach using glycomics will lead to improved therapeutics for challenging diseases, advanced technologies, and increased national capacity for
disease prevention strategies and vaccines. All of these will improve patient lives and make our healthcare systems more sustainable.”
The 2021-22 Call for Proposals will open on April 1, 2021 with three funding streams:
1. Clinical Partnerships
2. Translational Initiatives, and
3. Strategic Initiatives
each of which is designed to meet the needs of Canadian innovators, health organizations, and the life sciences and biotechnology industries. Proposals will be received and grants issued on a rolling basis.
