CRCC Consultations

The CRCC Consultations
Following on Budget 2018 commitments, The Canada Research Coordinating Committee (CRCC) is launching a national consultation focussed on three priorities:
- creating a new tri-agency fund to support international, interdisciplinary, fast-breaking and high-risk research that generates new knowledge;
- strengthening equity, diversity and inclusion in research; and
- support for early career researchers.
The online consultation is open to all Canadians until August 27, 2018.
Canada will submit feedback to the CRCC on the three priorities based on engagement with VPRs, ILOs, GROs and our Research Committee. We invite VPRs, ILOs, GROs (or their delegates) to share their views with Universities Canada on the CRCC’s proposals by participating in one of the following teleconferences:
Please email emate@univcan.ca indicating your participation by August 13, 2018. Alternatively, please email your comments to emate@univcan.ca by Tuesday, August 21.
The Tri-Agency Research Fund Consultations
The CRCC is planning to hold six face-to-face consultations on the new Tri-Agency Research Fund at universities across Canada during the month of August. Input will inform the development of a call for proposals this fall for the Tri-Agency Research Fund. We understand that invitations to institutions in each region are forthcoming. For any questions, or to signal interest in participating in one of the regional roundtables, contact Gordana Krcevinac, Interim Executive Director of the CRCC at Gordana.Krcevinac@SSHRC-CRSH.GC.CA.
The Athena SWAN Consultations
The federal government launched a made-in-Canada Athena SWAN webpage on NSERC’s EDI website with background information and resources on the program. The PSE community is invited to share their views and recommendations for adapting the UK program to the Canadian context by emailing consultations@nserc-crsng.gc.ca. As mentioned in our July 24 email to members, Minister Duncan is conducting face-to-face consultations on Athena SWAN this summer while NSERC will hold consultations across the country this fall. Details on the fall consultations will be shared as soon as they become available.
