The Foundation for Legal Research provides funds for legal research including doctrinal research, research into the working of the legal system, and in fields peripheral to legal doctrine.

AsiaGlobal Fellows Program
Asia Global Institute

The AsiaGlobal Fellows Program launched by the University of Hong Kong is an interdisciplinary global leadership development initiative for mid-career professionals with a strong interest and track record in public policy.

Insight Development Grants (IDG)
SSHRC (Social Science & Humanities Research Council)
Deadline: February 4, 2019
The IDG funding enables the development of new research questions, as well as experimentation with new methods, theoretical approaches and/or ideas.  This is an excellent opportunity for new scholar(s) / researcher(s) to explore new research.  Also, this funding permits seasoned researcher(s) to develop/explore new avenues of research. Researchers may only apply for and hold, as applicant, only one IDG at a time.

Connection Grants

Connection Grants (amounts from $7,000 to $25,000) support workshops, colloquiums, conferences, forums, summer institutes or other events or outreach activities geared toward short-term, targeted knowledge mobilization initiatives.  Applications may be submitted by institutions (e.g., university led events) or individual applicants and teams. This is a 2:1 matching fund opportunity (SSHRC:entity match).

Partnership Engage Grants

The small-scale, stakeholder-driven partnerships supported through the Partnership Engage Grants are meant to respond to immediate needs and time constraints facing organizations in non-academic sectors. There are 4 application deadlines throughout the year (Mar 15, Jun 15, Sept 15, and Dec 15).  The grants are valued at $7,000 to $25,000 over one year.

VPR Travel Grants, Social Sciences/Humanities -Pool 2

Submissions are accepted September 1st through March 31st or, until all available funds have been committed. For faculty in areas supported by SSHRC to attend conferences beginning September 1 through March 31.
