Operating Grant, Terry Fox New Investigator Award
This program supports outstanding New Investigators as they develop their careers as independent research scientists or clinician scientists, to undertake high-quality cancer research, while in close collaboration and mentorship with established TFRI or CIHR-ICR-funded research teams. Support will target high-quality research in all four funding pillars, providing information that may form the basis of innovative cancer prevention, diagnosis and/or treatment across the cancer control continuum.
Eligibility: The Nominated Principal Applicant (NPA) must hold either a PhD, MD, or the equivalent, must hold a full-time appointment2, or an equivalent that is leading toward to a full-time, faculty-level contract of employment at an eligible Canadian research institution, and must be within seven calendar years from the start of their first faculty-level appointment. The application must receive support and sponsorship from a currently funded research team, and be sponsored by an eligible Canadian research institution.
Application process
June 28- Registration Deadline (TFRI portion only). No SFU signature sheet needed at the registration stage.
Sep 13- Full proposal deadline (TRFI and CIHR abbreviated application). SFU signature sheet, TFRI application signature page, CIHR routing slip, copies of full applications are due to ors@sfu.ca no later than 3 business days before agency deadline.
