Operating Grant, SPOR Innovative Clinical Trial Multi-Year Grant
This funding opportunity supports the development and testing of innovative methodologies/designs of innovative clinical trials (iCT) that is integrated with the principles of Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research (SPOR).
The proposed research activities must be patient-oriented in that:
- patients are engaged as partners;
- there is a focus on patients’ priorities;
- the aim is to improve patient outcomes;
- the work is conducted by a multi-disciplinary team that includes patients;
- there is involvement of other SPOR stakeholders such as policy makers, health care professionals and health charities; and
- research findings can be applied to health care or policy.
The proposed research must be an iCT. Applicants must focus on comparative effectiveness research and/or implementation science research, and are required to explore collaborations with the SPOR SUPPORT Units, the SPOR Canadian Data Platform, and the SPOR Evidence Alliance to strengthen their application and support the research project.
Eligibility: Applicants must secure partner contributions from non-federal sources to match the CIHR contribution at a minimum 1:1 ratio. The Nominated Principal Applicant must be an independent researcher, appointed at a CIHR eligible institution at the time of application. There must be at least five Principal Applicants/Principal Knowledge Users including at least one Early Career Researcher (ECR), one health care professional, one health system administrator, and one patient. Two-step application process
Aug 28: Letter of Intent Deadline. No SFU signature sheet is required at this stage. Applicant (not ORS) submits LOI to agency.
Nov 12: Full Application Deadline. SFU signature sheet, routing slip, and copy of full application are due to ors@sfu.ca no later than 3 business days before agency deadline. Upon receipt, ORS will return signed routing slip to applicant. Applicant (not ORS) submits application to agency.
