Research in Germany - Information Session

SFU faculty members, postdoctoral fellows, and PhD students across the disciplinary spectrum are invited to attend this 60-minute information session, which will provide details on funding programs in support of research stays in Germany or collaborations with German partners. The session will also cover the overview of the German research landscape, its structure, major players and relevant policy initiatives.
The session will be led by representatives of the DAAD – German Academic Exchange Service and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, two German funding agencies which support individual researcher mobility.
- The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation provides fully-funded opportunities for young scholars (within 12 years of obtaining a Ph.D.) to visit Germany and carry out research with German scholars for varying lengths of time. These opportunities are ideal for a post-doctoral fellowship experience, or a first sabbatical leave for new faculty.
- DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) is a registered members association made up of German institutions of higher education and student bodies, supporting the internationalization of German universities, promotes German studies and the German language abroad.
Guest Speakers:
- John Paul Kleiner, Senior Manager, University Relations, DAAD Information Point Toronto
- Alex Kuznetsov, Humboldt Foundation Liaison Office in Canada
